Proverbs 2018

Proverbs 2018 : Day Twelve

There are many jewels of wisdom in today’s chapter, but I think Psalm 1 should come to mind as we see the many contrasts that speak of the righteous being rooted and the wicked or foolish having no foundation.  This is the comparison that Jesus gives at the end of His Sermon on the Mount: Matthew 7:24-29.

Of course after 43 years of marriage to my lovely bride Linda,  this verse always stands out to me: “An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, But she who causes shame is like rottenness in his bones.”  And though it will embarrass her I want everyone to know that she truly is my crown and has always kept my bones in good health.

This verse drops a BIG hint about where we will end up in this Book of Wisdom and there will be much more to learn about the good wife in chapter 31:  But for today I would point out that choosing a good wife is an important decision in the life of any young man. Obviously the most important principle is to marry in the faith in a Godly way:  But I would add that making sure your spouse is your best friend is pretty important over the long haul.

Proverbs 12:26 “The righteous should choose his friends carefully, For the way of the wicked leads them astray.”
